Nana Maharaj Taranekar (Chaitanyananda Saraswati)

Param Pujya Shri Nana Maharaj Taranekar was a revered saint whose life embodied unwavering devotion to Lord Dattatreya, steadfast faith in the Guru, and profound spiritual discipline. From an early age, he felt a deep longing for the grace of a Sadguru. His earnest devotion and persistent spiritual practice led him to Param Pujya Shrimad Vasudevanand Saraswati Tembe Swami Maharaj, from whom he received the sacred Guru Mantra. Thereafter, his life became a dedicated journey of spiritual practice, chanting, pilgrimage, and complete obedience to his Guru’s guidance.

Nana Maharaj believed that true devotion must extend beyond rituals into everyday conduct. He encouraged self-discipline, righteous living, humility, and selfless action. Through spiritual guidance, religious traditions, and initiatives that helped devotees pursue their spiritual practices, he made the path of devotion accessible to many. His teachings continue to inspire seekers to cultivate unwavering faith, live with integrity, and serve others with sincerity. His life reminds us that true devotion lies not merely in worship, but in transforming our thoughts, actions, and lives through the grace of the Guru.

Param Pujya Shri Arvind Agashe Kaka, lovingly known as Agashe Kaka and later revered as Shri Krishnananda Saraswati Maharaj, exemplified devotion to the Guru, spiritual discipline, and selfless service. Having fulfilled his family responsibilities despite difficult circumstances, he devoted himself to spiritual pursuits. His association with Swami Swarupananda and Shri Gulvani Maharaj deepened his spiritual practice. Later, under the grace and guidance of Param Pujya Shri Nana Maharaj Taranekar, he embraced Guru Seva as his spiritual path. His unwavering devotion earned him the monastic name Krishnananda Saraswati.

At Khamgaon, Agashe Kaka combined spirituality with meaningful social service. He worked towards de-addiction, supported students in their education, arranged free computer training, and helped needy families with food, clothing, and livelihood assistance. Through spiritual gatherings, yajnas, and the guidance of young people towards constructive living, he demonstrated that spirituality must address the practical needs of society. The establishment of Barsana in 2005 became an enduring expression of his devotion and spiritual mission.
